Hello all

Hi,

I hope I'm doing this right. My name's Mina-Clare and I'm going to be the new Remus Lupin at HPRPG4GU. I just though I would introduce myself. I'm introducing myself here instead of the other OC community, because we've still got to work things out with the password for the Remus journal.

Anyway, I'm 20. I am professional writer (meaning, I work a lot of odd jobs and frequently have no money). Besides the obvious Harry Potter obsession, I'm very interested in anime, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, comic books and Highlander.

My hobbies including running a website (plug plug http://www.frodis.net), writing fan fiction (plug plug Harry Potter and the Labyrinth of Illusion), drawing fan art and making fan music videos.

Hope to get the password to my journal soon and getting into some good RPing.

~Mina

Hi there. I'm Ragdoll aka Tonks. I'm also a professional writer (mostly freelance and understand the no money thing...)

Love the name of your domain. Is it a reference to the Monkees episode? :-)
Hey Ragdoll! I'll just warn you now-- I love the character of Tonks, just as long as she's not involved with Remus (as a Remus fan, I get a lot of Remus/Tonks 'shippers telling me how *perfect* they are for each other. I am a firm non-shipper for most couples... Except Aberforth/Goat, but that's only because every fanfic about Aberforth/Goat is as funny as heck).

Yes, the domain is a reference to the Monkees episode. The Monkees used to be one of my big obsessions (Still are, really. It's a birthright thing. Apparently my mother used to put my brothers and I to sleep listening to Michael Nesmith's "Infinite Rider on the Big Dogma"). "Frodis" has, over the years, become a filler word for me. Whenever I can't figure out a good spell in one of my original or Harry Potter stories, I use "frodis" and fill in something better later. So when I couldn't come up with a clever domain name, I decided to just go with Frodis.

Is that Bowie in your icon? I'm a huge fan of Bowie, have been for... Oh, my entire life. I got to see him last year when he was touring with Moby and the Blue Man Group. Bowie is one of the reasons I have friends. We bonded over Bowie and anime. I've slowly begun to turn my group of friends into Harry Potter fans. In fact, I had "Prisoner of Azkaban" in my backpack when I went to Bowie (I carry PoA pretty much everywhere I go.)

Enough ranting from me,

Tonks and Remus?! NOOOOOOOOO! At the moment my Tonks has her eye on Bill Weasley and it might be mutual. She also has an unrequited crush on someone else but she won't be doing anything about it. So no problems there! Since we're in an RPG, I know book ships are out the window anyway but Tonks and Lupin? Not a chance. Although the fact that you've cast him with Ralph Fiennes is going to make it difficult. ;-)

That's so cool. I'm a long time Monkees fan myself. I'm a lot older than you and I used to watch the show on teevee when I was like 3 yrs old. Davy Jones was my first crush but I got better. ;-) I still love Mickey Dolenz though.

Yep, that's db. It's the promo photo for his new album/tour etc. I'm a huge Bowie fan -- seen him play live 12 times (I've lost track), met him twice, had the joy of going to a Top of the Pops taping last year with 49 other people in the room. It was awesome. I've got tickets for the NY show of the current tour -- floor seats but not sure how good they are. David is just an amazing artist and an amazing performer. Maybe we can figure out a way of working Jareth the Goblin King into the RPG. ;-)

Good, good. Just making sure. I had to check out whether or not Remus has been put into a relationship with anyone before I officially joined on. I'm glad he's not. I prefer my Remus as a lone wolf. In particular, I like "I've had several doomed love affairs, all failing either because I'm a werewolf or because I have a fear of commitment since everyone I cared about all disappeared or died on the exact same night."

As far as I'm concerned Ralph Fiennes *is* Remus. There's just something about him that screams 'wolf'. He is also so DeadSexy.... I mean, I know he's never described as sexy in the books, but how can he be anything but? After catching up on the RP last night, I spent quite a bit of time going through my Ralph Fiennes pictures, making up icons of Ralph-as-Remus. I had to keep on stopping going, "DAAAAMN. That's one sexy guy!"

Yes, I'm a later fan. I got into the Monkees when I was a kid, when they started to show the re-runs. I caught on again during the third-wave, when Micky, Peter and Davy began to tour and they had the reunion specials. I've never gotten the chance to see them live, but I do have Michael and Peter's autographs.

Ah, you've just hit where my Bowie obsession started. Jareth the Goblin King was my first real crush. "Labyrinth" is probably the main reason I'm so into fantasy. I adore Bowie and he's a performer that still puts on a great show. You've got a lot of other acts (The Who, the Stones, even the Monkees), who really depend on nostagia. Bowie doesn't. He's always creating.

I haven't seen anything much from him since I joined about a month ago so unless anyone else tells you otherwise, he's a free man, erm, wolf. ;-) Even if he WAS in a game ship, you can always change it!

Ralph is one hot hot man. The first thing I ever saw him in was Schindler's List and I felt sooooooooo guilty for lusting after him cos he was the Big Bad Nazi. But he was too sexy, damn it!

Cool all around. Have you got the Series 1 dvds yet? I bought them when they were released but still haven't had a chance to watch them. (Typical) I've seen them on 2 reunion tours- 1987 and 1998 (I think it was 98). Lots of fun.

Bowie is just a genius. I love him to bits. Haven't quite warmed up to the new album yet but I'm sure I will. I was taken on a date to see Labyrinth by a guy I really didn't like. The poor guy didn't know that having me watch David on screen (in those tights!!!) for 2 hours was NOT gonna win me over to him (the date guy). LOL Poor boy. No comparison!

Jess has told me he's single and I should just write my interpritation of Remus, since the former player wasn't around a lot. It looks easy enough to take off from where the former player left off anyway.

My mum and I had the same reaction when we saw Schiendler's List. But he's a great actor and makes any role work for him... Except playing off of Jennifer Lopez, but then, you get more emotional feedback off a block of wood than her. I haven't been able to bring myself to watch more than ten minutes of "Maid in Manhatten".

Heard of the DVDs, haven't gotten them yet. I want to get them badly. I've got most of the episodes on tape, and I have the "Best Of..." DVD with Monkees vs Machine, On the High Sea, Fairy Tale and Micajageo. I need to get off my butt and buy them. It just seems whenever I get the money, I find another DVD set I want and I have to go to Amazon to buy the Monkees, so I haven't got the chance.

Oh, that guy never stood a chance! Even my way-hetro brothers and their friends admit Bowie is sex on a stick in "Labyrinth". My circle of friends have taken to calling things "Bowie" when they are ultra cool (usually referring to guys or music. "He's very Bowie"). The only other human beings that have earned this dubious honour are Johnny Depp (referring to "messed up but cool") and Alan Rickman ("deliciously evil").

Yay! Welcome! It'll be wonderful to have a Lupin! :-)

I'm Jessica (not to be confused with Jess :-P) and I play Ron, McGonagall, and Sophie. Um, I'm 21, got to school at UC Santa Cruz (just moved up here from Santa Barbara) CA, Brit Lit major...ooh, I'm a bigger Tolkien (book) fan than a HP one (and yes that is possible) and Charles De Lint is brilliant as far as I'm concerned.

Oh, and my housemates already think I'm crazy because I can be heard laughing by myself (due to rpg things of course though) and now from your "Magic Dance" video! That was GREAT! All of them were really! *claps*
It's wonderful to *be* Lupin, even though I haven't posted anything yet. I adore him.

Wow, you've got a lot of characters going! I played a lot of characters on the last RP I was on... But that didn't go to well. One, because I started to burn out, two because the players... Well, I only talk to one of them still. I shouldn't discuss it really. Let's just say there was some unpleasantness. Reminded me of high school.

I'm a big Tolkien fan myself. My favourite characters are Samwise and Legolas... At least the book versions. I don't really care for all of the movie fans of Legolas who just gush about how purdy he is. I will admit, Orlando Bloom is a nice looking fellow, but... Ah, they had that awesome Orc Killing Contest in the books. They didn't do justice to it in the movie.

Thank you so much! I've worked very hard on my videos. "Magic Dance" is one of my favourites, mostly because I just adore the song. I need to get the few I have down right now back up. I've been having server problems as of late, plus my computer blew up, so I lost my backups. Luckily, I have backups on disc. The Harry Potter video fandom is small, but I'm a proud member of it. As far as I've been able to suss out, "The Seeker" was the first one. I got into videos through anime videos and Buffy videos. Then when the first DVD of HP came out.. Well, I knew I had to. I have a few more videos in mind that I have to do. I can't wait for PoA. I really want to do "Paint it Black" for Sirius and "Silver Moon" for Remus.

Hiya!
I'm Steph and I play Hooch and Molly Weasley (which is fun, I yell at people lots, lol)
the professional write thing is so cool...I wanted to eba writer when i was little *sigh*
sry a bit of nostalgia...
anyways, as you can see from my icon, i go to school @ Univ. of Pitt and I'm in the guard :) which is mucho cool....and i think im rambling now
welcome again!
~Steph : D
Hi Steph!

Molly Weasley is one of my personal favourite characters. I love all of the Weasleys, frankly. They're so great!

The professional writer thing... Well, it's really easy to say I'm a professional writer. I don't have any books published (except for a credit on a very out-of-date computer tech book on web page creation). These days, I mostly work for my dad's company, writing up press releases and the web page content. It gives me money to do what I want and leave most of my time free to pursue my hobbies. I, like every other writer on the planet, have a book in the works. It's actually based on my "Harry Potter" novel. Since I had so many original aspects, I chose to take the original aspects and put them into another universe of my own creation. It's started out well, except when my hard drive crashed I lost all of my writing on it.

Looking forward to RPing with you.

~Mina
Holy cow - I didn't realize you were a fellow Canadian. Well, now I feel even more at home. ;) Allow me to apologize for Snape's behaviour right off the bat - I only barely control him - and Hermione is much nicer to deal with. Most of the time.

Welcome. :)
Yep. I'm proudly Canadian. What province are you from? I'm in Ontario and most of my Canadian internet friends are from British Columbia.

I'm frankly surprised at how few Canadians I met on the 'net. Everyone seems really surprised when I tell them where I'm from... There's a lot of Canadians, I guess just not a lot of them are on the internet.

Make no apologies for Snape. It wouldn't be in character if he let anyone reign him in,
I too am an Ontarian! Toronto, born & bred. Proudly Canadian...hee...is there another kind? I think my LJ layout might be a bit much, but... *sigh*

I know...considering there are several million of us...does nobody up here own a computer???

All right, you have a point there. I'll let Snape continue to be the git he aims to be. Who am I to stop him, really?
Cool, we're not that far apart then. I was born into Toronto myself, but raised up in one of those dinky little places up north in the boons where everyone knows each other and it's easy to become a legend (I am one of the legendary people are here. You know how every town has a person everyone thinks is crazy but is really a nice person? (A la Harry being the "Potter Boy from St. Brutus'.) Here, that crazy person is me. But lately, they've tacked on, "she's one of those Satanist who are into Harry Potter". (Yes, religious town too)

Seriously. You would think there would be more Canadians around. Maybe they're afraid to tell people they're Canadian.

Snape is *so* a git. I was listening to "Snape's Worst Memory" today, and, while I felt bad for him being teased-- As soon as he got his wand, he CUT James!
Gah. I had a whole response to this typed out & I lost it. Well, then. A recap:

My ex-fiance did a co-op term in South Porcupine, so nothing seems "north" to me now! And I envy your legend status. You have to be a lot crazier than I am to become such in a place like Toronto, so I had a disadvantage in that respect. I think there's nothing at all wrong with being The Satanist Who Is Into Harry Potter. Makes things more interesting! Religious town? *racks brain*

I always thought telling people you're Canadian simply results in having a pint bought for you and getting a pat on the back. Nothing to fear! Bring it on!

Yoooouuuu have the book on tape/CD...? Again, I am jealous!! Though I hate to admit I still empathize with Snape. James made me quite angry in OoTP.
Eh, legendary status isn't bad. Being known as the biggest Harry Potter fan is town is definately one of the better legends that has sprung up about me (my least favourite is the one that I stalked some guy with night vision goggles. While I did have a crush on the guy for a while, I never *stalked* him. I didn't even know where he lived!)

Yeah, a religious town. They were trying to ban HP in school for a while, and most of my gay friends fled the town for Toronto. There are about twice as many churches as schools.

I always get "wow, so is it COLD?"

And no... *blush* I don't have the books on CD/Tape. I'm a very naughty person and have MP3s. I want to buy the audio books, but if I do I want to get the Stephen Fry version (I *adore* Stephen Fry.) The Brit ones are harder to find and way more expensive. So I've settled for MP3s of the American versions, which I use to fall asleep. Believe me, listening to Harry Potter to go to sleep can result in some really cracked out dreams.
